Quebec Physicians Health Program

Saskatchewan Physicians Support Program

Process of contact: Confidential contact or referral can be accessed through the Director of Physician Support Program at SMA or any committee member. During the initial contact, you will discuss your concerns and decide on referral to an outside agency – or intervention by the Saskatchewan Physician Support Program (SPSP). Intervention by SPSP will involve an assessment of the physician (and family); 2 committee members within 72 hours; a treatment plan will be established.

Process of contact: Your call will be answered by a staff member from a reputable service provider. Some information will be gathered so that an assessment physician can promptly call you back. When the assessment physician calls, you will discuss your concerns and decide on the best referral(s) for you and/or your family. PFSP's assessment physicians are familiar with the special circumstances surrounding physician health and lifestyle issues.

Process of contact: When you telephone our helpline, you will be connected to an intake counsellor provided by Human Solutions. The counsellor will quickly determine with you what your needs are and will provide you with access to a network of clinical counsellors. The first two hours of counselling are paid for by the Physician Health Program of BC. Unless you decline, the Human Solutions representative will also schedule an appointment with a physician from the Physician Health Program. If your need is urgent, a program physician can speak with you immediately; otherwise, an appointment will be scheduled for the next business day that is convenient for you.
