How e-cigarettes work

The tube of an e-cigarette contains heat-producing batteries and a chamber holding liquid. When heated, the liquid becomes a vapour which is drawn into the lungs. Ingredients vary by brand, but many contain nicotine and/or flavourings intended to appeal to young people.

While most e-cigarette manufacturers were originally small entrepreneurial companies, international tobacco makers are showing increasing interest.
