CMA monitoring impact of Calgary's flood as annual meeting nears

As flood waters in and around Calgary began to recede this week, the CMA began to gather information about the impact - if any - Alberta's unprecedented June floods will have on its Aug. 18-21 annual meeting in Calgary.

Meeting organizers have already been informed that the meeting site, the TELUS Convention Centre, escaped the flooding. They are currently awaiting reports from other suppliers and facilities that have been booked for the CMA's 146th annual meeting.

"We are monitoring the situation closely," said Michelle Gravelle, the CMA's director of meeting and travel management. "We will make more information available on cma.ca as it becomes available."

Organizers of the July 5-14 Calgary Stampede have already announced that event will proceed "come hell or high water."
