On behalf of the Board of Directors, Dr. Brian Brodie, Chair of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), expressed appreciation to Paul-Émile Cloutier on the occasion of his departure from the organization.
"On behalf of the Board and the 80,000 physician-members of the CMA I want to thank Paul-Émile for his steadfast work on behalf of the physicians of Canada," said Dr. Brodie.
During Mr. Cloutier's tenure, the CMA grew to one of the most respected advocacy voices on the national health care scene. His efforts were also critical to expanding the products and services available to the medical professionals of Canada, supporting their commitment to deliver high-quality health care services to Canadians.
A search process is being established to select a new Secretary General and CEO. Owen Adams, Vice President of Health Policy and Research at the CMA, will serve in an immediate Acting capacity until an interim Secretary General and CEO is named.
