Overall job purpose

This Marketing Manager will lead, manage and execute end to end marketing strategies and programs in support of The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) strategic objectives and the Enterprise Marketing mandates — this includes planned and unplanned programs. Chief responsibility will be to support the Enterprise Marketing group and Director of Enterprise Marketing by managing strategic marketing programs. This includes ownership and accountability for programs in order to evolve and drive forward the CMA value proposition and brand.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop content and execute programs/campaigns to build brand equity over the long term, drive growth and engagement through awareness and lead generation campaigns specific to subject/issue and/or segment including members, potential members, and patients/public
  • Development of marketing plans in collaboration with internal and external partners, outlining objectives, key messages, strategies, tactics and measures, effectively leveraging all appropriate channels
  • Apply a strategic lens to all marketing/communications products and optimize opportunities for cross-promotion
  • Develop strong content in different formats (written, digital, etc.)
  • End to end execution of the plan and tactics, working with internal teams and external agencies (as required)
  • Track, analyze and report on activities and results with a focus on ROI
  • Develop and manage program/campaign budgets
  • Develop strategies, and content for multiple channels, and make recommendation on how to market CMA advocacy
  • Integrate and collaborate with key stakeholders
  • Develop and execute specific tactics that support other day-to-day business and marketing strategies
  • Understand and articulate the value proposition for all audiences
  • Understand corporate business objectives and effectively build programs to help drive results
  • Ensure materials adhere to brand standards
  • Participate on cross-functional project teams as required
  • Contributes to process improvement on an ongoing basis

  • Knowledge of physicians/medical profession and/or Canadian health care environment an asset
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset

  • University degree in Marketing or Communications


  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in the development and execution of marketing/communications programs
  • Experience in digital marketing (SEO, SEM, etc.)
