CMA membership benefits now includes ClinicalKey

The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) continues to provide exceptional member value with the addition of a new tool to its extensive suite of clinical resources for members. CMA membership now includes access to Elsevier’s ClinicalKey – a leading clinical search engine that represents a savings of up to $1,200 a year* on individual subscription costs.

For 14 years, the CMA offered the hugely-popular MD Consult as part of its suite of clinical resources. MD Consult has been retired and replaced by ClinicalKey which offers access to clinical answers and trusted evidence across 30+ medical specialties. “This is exactly the type of resource the CMA is pleased to offer because it helps our members easily find the clinical information they need and helps them provide better clinical care,” said CMA President Chris Simpson.

“ClinicalKey has become an essential complement to DynaMed and UpToDate when I am at my patient’s bedside,” said Dr. Pierre Harvey, a practising physician.

ClinicalKey provides access to a unique collection of books, journals, multimedia resources, patient education tools and drug information. The collection includes the Clinics of North America series, Procedures Consult and First Consult.

Also included in the searchable database are:

  • more than 1200 textbooks
  • more than 650 journals
  • more than 13,500 medical and surgical videos
  • 15,000+ Patient Education Handouts
  • More than 5 Million Images
  • Fully Indexed MEDLINE
  • Clinical Trials from ClinicalTrials.gov database

Other features include topic pages on more than 1,400 disease conditions, a retained search history to allow members to view past sessions or email results, and a presentation maker to allows members to export text and images to PowerPoint presentations.

“ClinicalKey is a valuable go-to source for reliable patient information and journal articles – all accessible from my mobile phone, said Calgary resident Dr. Kimberly Williams, noting the mobile-enabled nature of the tool which allows members to access information where they need it.
