New CMA Foundation to grant to causes physicians care about
Ottawa, [May 4, 2017] — The Canadian Medical Association (CMA), in partnership with its subsidiaries, MD Financial Management and Joule, is pleased to announce the launch of the CMA Foundation, a new private foundation which will provide impactful charitable giving through grants to registered Canadian charities that further excellence in health care.
“Our goal is to engage directly with organizations and support the causes physicians care about,” explains Allison Seymour, CMA Foundation president. “We believe in being socially responsible and representing the interests of CMA members — and this includes a focus on direct charitable grants that align with their values.”
The Foundation is also trustee for a collection of Donor Advised Funds, offered exclusively by MD Financial Management, helping physicians create their lasting legacy.
Governed by a board of directors comprised of Canadian physicians and business leaders, the CMA Foundation will work with physicians, medical associations, affiliates and partners to provide support to registered Canadian charities that align with the mission of the CMA and its subsidiaries.
