Mandate and statement of purpose

The Forum of Canadian Physician Health Programs (FCPHP), formerly the Canadian Physician Health Network, brings together provincial/territorial physician health programs.

The organization’s aim is to provide an environment where mutual support, sharing of resources and promotion of ideas and innovation in physician health and well-being take place.

24 hours a day
info@physicianhealth.com

Contact process: The first helpline point of contact is a masters-prepared intake counsellor, who determines what your needs are and schedules an appointment for you to speak by phone with a program intake physician. The intake physician then helps further clarify your goals. The program also provides physicians, trainees and their dependents access to a limited number of counselling or coaching sessions per year, at no charge. These sessions can be in person or by phone. Services are available to any registrant with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.

PFSP offers a 24 hour assistance line operated by an external contractor to maintain confidentiality for callers. You will be given the opportunity to discuss your personal and professional problems with a physician who understands the issues and working conditions that impact physician health. Together you will determine the best resources to meet your needs. In addition to this advice and support, PFSP also assists callers with access to a province wide network of qualified counselling professionals retained by our external contractor. Longer term support and coordination of resources is available from PFSP for physicians, residents and medical students who have complex health issues.
