Joule launches podcast series—Let’s talk about the possibilities

At Joule, we know that the key to innovation is collaboration. This is why we are dedicated to creating connections—between CMA members and physician entrepreneurs—so we can make it easier for physicians to assume the role of entrepreneur.

We have launched a pilot podcast series: Let’s talk about the possibilities, which features conversational interviews between physician innovators and others in the industry. The intention is to inspire CMA members to pursue their own entrepreneurial passions; provide them with helpful lessons to ease their way, and to raise the profile of physician innovation in Canada.

The first podcast, “Unchartered territory—innovating from within the hospital system” features Dr. Joshua Liu, co-founder and CEO of SeamlessMD and Chair of the Joule Innovation Council, and Dr. Matt Bromwich, ENT Surgeon, and Founder and CMO of Clearwater Clinical. In this first podcast, they discuss the challenges physicians face when trying to innovate from within the hospital setting.

New Reports on Fees and Performance From MD

Starting in January 2017, MD clients will receive a pair of new annual reports designed to help you understand what fees you are paying and how your investments are performing.

As you may have heard, new regulations (called CRM2) require Canadian financial institutions to provide investors with more details about the investment fees and compensation they collect, and about investment performance.

MD is going beyond the minimum regulatory disclosure requirements by providing its clients with information about all the investment fees they pay. This is not only the right thing to do, but also the MD thing to do. Trust and value are the foundation of MD’s commitment to its clients. That is why MD Advisors have never worked on commission. And it is why MD’s fees are, and always have been, among the most competitive in Canada—30% lower than the industry average.1 Helping clients achieve their financial goals remains MD’s number 1 priority.

Here is what MD clients can expect to receive every year, starting in 2017:

  • A Fees and Compensation Report that provides a summary of the total costs that clients paid over the past year, including fees paid to fund companies and any compensation received by MD.
  • An Investment Performance Report that tells clients how their investments have performed since December 31 of the previous year, after costs have been deducted. It will help them determine whether they are on track to meet their investment goals.
