
Dr. Howard is an emergency physician in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. She completed her medical training at the University of British Columbia and McGill University. She is actively involved in climate and planetary health, motivated by work on a Médecins Sans Frontières pediatric malnutrition project and the health impacts of climate change on patients in Canada’s North.
Dr. Howard was first author on the 2017 briefing for Canadian policymakers on behalf of the Lancet Countdown on Climate Change and Health and the Canadian Public Health Association. She is president of the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment and sits on the board of directors of the Global Climate and Health Alliance. Dr. Howard has published various research and received several awards.
