Survived by his wife Rita, 5 children, 12 grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. “This year would mark the 70th year since his graduation. He completed his internship at Sunnybrook Health Sciences shortly after graduating, and during his residency he had the opportunity to travel to many countries. He spent a year training in Holland, followed by a year at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. He was so proud of learning to speak Dutch and French later in life, and sought out anyone to practise his language skills. He began his career at Shouldice Hospital in Toronto in 1956. He was a brilliant surgeon and took pride in his profession. He completed over 23 000 successful hernia repairs before fully retiring in 1990.”
