Canadian Medical Association

OTTAWA – May 22, 2018 – The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) is looking for individuals interested in providing their insights and sharing their health care experiences. Through its new initiative — called the CMA Patient Voice — the CMA is looking to engage patients in its advocacy and policy work.

The CMA Patient Voice will be composed of 12 patient representatives from across the country plus two CMA Board members, and will be contributing to the CMA's advocacy to foster a healthy population. The CMA Patient Voice is a key component of the CMA's 2020 Strategic Plan, which includes the objective of consistently bringing a patient perspective to the work of the association.

Interested individuals must have knowledge and experience as a patient — or as a family member of one — in Canada.

"Connecting with patients is part of a physician's daily life. At the CMA, we're committed to engaging with patients through initiatives such as Demand a Plan. With the CMA Patient Voice, we're looking to take this engagement to the next level," says Dr. Laurent Marcoux, CMA president.

Nominations will be accepted until July 13, 2018. For more information, please visit cma.ca/get-involved/patient-voice
