Dr. Karaivanov’s practice includes office-based care, obstetrics, emergency medicine and in-patient care. He works as chief of staff at the Labrador Health Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. He also has clinics in the Innu community of Sheshatshiu, where he is currently working on two randomized controlled trials on improving diabetes care. He received his certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) in 2002 and became a fellow in 2013.

Dr. Karaivanov is a clinical assistant professor in family medicine with Memorial University. He was a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association Board of Directors and served as president in 2013. He has been director-at-large with the CFPC Board of Directors since 2015.
