Dr. Saman Arfaie

Recent medical student graduate Dr. Saman Arfaie is driven by a desire for intellectual curiosity, advocacy and to uplift others.

Dr. Arfaie is the co-founder of the Canadian Medical Student Interest Group in Neurosurgery. In this role, he has promoted women’s leadership in medicine and created a mentor-pairing initiative for medical students across Canada using CaRMS resources. He also co-created the Neuro International Collaboration, a multi-continental research group.

Dr. Arfaie is a sought-after thought leader, having delivered five TEDx talks across Canada. As an emerging academic leader at the national and international stages, he is co-writing two textbooks — one being the first interdisciplinary volume on COVID-19 in Canada and the other titled Neurobiology of Creativity: Music & Medicine, both to be published in 2025.
