Ms. Victoria Blouin

Victoria Blouin has proven to be an effective leader and representative for the interests of Quebec medical students. While juggling her own medical studies and research, she has led two high-profile student groups – the Association des étudiantes et étudiants en médecine de l'Université de Montréal (AÉÉMUM) and the Fédération médicale étudiante du Québec (FMEQ).

Ms. Blouin was elected AÉÉMUM president at the peak of the pandemic. She advocated on behalf of 1,400 members for better online instruction, and set up several virtual conferences, student events and consultations.

As FMEQ president, Ms. Blouin has helped increase the Federation’s political profile – meeting, for example, with Quebec’s minister of health and social services to discuss how to better attract and retain family doctors. The FMEQ’s recommendation has led to the creation of a round table on the issue.

Ms. Blouin is currently serving on the steering committee for the renewal of l'Université de Montréal’s MD program.

“Victoria’s opinions are always expressed clearly, succinctly and with vision — demonstrating her unifying, informed and authentic leadership.” – Dr. Louise Samson, Faculty of Medicine, Université de Montréal

Ms. Victoria Blouin is receiving the Dr. Brian Brodie Organizational Leadership Development Award (Student) in recognition of her exemplary dedication, commitment and leadership as a medical student.
