Winnipeg; University of Sydney (Australia), 1953; otolaryngology; professor emeritus, University of Manitoba. Died Sept. 15, 2018, aged 88. Survived by his wife Donna, 4 children and 5 grandchildren. “Des was born in Sydney, Australia, and knew from a very young age he would become a physician. In 1958 he left Australia to further his training in Chicago. A year later he settled in Brandon, Man., and set-up a private clinical practice. He subsequently made the move to Winnipeg in 1975 to carry on his clinical practice, and later became head of the Department of Otolaryngology. He very much enjoyed his time teaching medical students and residents, as well as time spent doing vestibular research with his colleagues.”
