Survived by his wife Heather, 2 children and 2 granddaughters. “After graduating from McGill he pursued further education in internal medicine, nephrology and kidney transplantation. John worked as head of the Manitoba Kidney Transplant Program at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre (HSC) and the University of Manitoba (U of M) for almost 30 years. During this time, he served terms as president of the Canadian Transplant Society, chair of the Kidney Foundation’s Medical Advisory Board, chair of the Canadian Organ Replacement Register and head of the Section of Nephrology at the HSC. He co-authored over 100 scientific papers. In 1987 he became professor of medicine at the U of M. He was the recipient of numerous awards for his services, and during his career more than 1000 kidney transplant patients came under his care.”
