Canadian Medical Association

On behalf of the CMA, I am delighted to congratulate CMA President-Elect Dr. Alika Lafontaine on being named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40.

Dr. Lafontaine is a tireless advocate for Indigenous health, using innovative solutions to address longstanding health inequities. Among his numerous achievements, Dr. Lafontaine co-founded SafeSpace Networks,  a project that builds trust within communities, helps marginalized patients navigate health systems and proactively reduces patient harm.

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Lafontaine as CMA’s first indigenous physician president in August 2022, and I look forward to working with him to help advance much needed change.

As a physician leader, his passion and dedication are inspirational. Join me in congratulating Dr. Lafontaine for this well-deserved recognition!
