Canadian Medical Association

For the second year in a row, the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) is heading across the country to hear directly from members. Member forums are being held in eight cities in 2020 and are an opportunity for physicians, residents and students to help shape the direction of our flagship issues: physician health and wellness and access to care, including health care delivery models. The day-long events are free for members and the CMA is pleased to cover travel and accommodation costs to help members attend the forum in their region.

Physician Health and Wellness

The 2020 member forums will build on the physician wellness discussions started at the 2019 forums. The CMA has initiated a national scan to examine the programs, services and resources in Canada that support physician health and wellness, to identify the current gaps and opportunities. More details on these findings will be shared and members will be asked for their ideas on possible solutions to support the profession.

Access to Care and Delivery Models of Care

Across all jurisdictions, Canadians experience significant issues with access to care. We heard these concerns directly from members in the 2019 forums. At the 2020 events, we want to hear from members to gain insight on the role of the delivery models of care in improving access to care in Canada – to health care services and for specific populations.

The forums will be held throughout February and March in:

  • Rouyn-Noranda
  • Quebec City
  • Calgary
  • Saskatoon
  • Vancouver
  • Thunder Bay
  • London
  • Fredericton

The 2020 regional events will also inform a national members forum, to be held as part of an expanded CMA Annual General Meeting in August 2020.
