This article discusses what happened at Weill Cornell Medicine when they worked to address burnout among attending physicians by fostering an environment that supports clinical care teams. The approach focused on action, transparency and learning across clinical care teams by using a list of tenets established through surveys and focus groups. Since the approach was implemented, the overall distress score among physicians has improved. Weill Cornell believes that its approach is sustainable and can be reproduced by other organizations.
