Self-compassion is a mechanism for coping with stressors and challenges. This study examines how self-compassion affects physicians’ professional well-being. Fifty-seven physicians in Canada completed a survey assessing self-compassion, work engagement, work exhaustion and professional life satisfaction. Results showed that physicians who practised self-compassion experienced greater work engagement, less work exhaustion and more professional life satisfaction.
