Developed and led by Indigenous peoples, the San’yas Anti-Racism Indigenous Cultural Safety Learning Program is an Indigenous health initiative offered by the BC Provincial Health Services Authority. It focuses on dismantling anti-Indigenous racism and promoting Indigenous cultural safety. In Kwak’wala, San’yas means “way of knowing.” The program provides regional trainings for people in British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario, as well as advanced training and ongoing learning modules. Each self-paced regional core training course introduces participants to cultural safety, anti-Indigenous racism and the colonization of Turtle Island. The Bystander to Ally course teaches learners how to be effective allies.
