Mental Health First Aid – Inuit (MHFA Inuit) is a three-day virtual course designed “by Inuit, for Inuit and for those who work with Inuit.” The course emphasizes the value of having conversations about mental wellness and addressing stigma. Participants are given the opportunity to “learn from their own people in a culturally safe, and competent environment.” The course follows the ALGEE framework for having confident conversations about mental wellness: assess the risk of suicide and/or harm, listen non-judgmentally, give reassurance, encourage professional support and encourage other supports.
