Our trained facilitators lead the Wellness Connection’s virtual peer support sessions. All facilitators are physicians and offer a diverse range of experience and qualifications.

Peter Czaplinski, MD, FRCPC

Peter Czaplinski

Dr. Peter Czaplinski is committed to promoting physician health and well-being as part of a multidisciplinary team dubbed MD Care in Manitoba. He is involved in community psychiatry in Winnipeg, but his work also takes him north to Churchill where he provides adult psychiatry services. Dr. Czaplinski is the coordinator for the psychotherapy section of the Manitoba Psychiatric Association and lectures at the University of Manitoba. His main interest areas include psychodynamic psychotherapy, couples counselling, and family therapy, which he provides out of his private practice.

Dr. Caroline Gérin-Lajoie, MD, FRCPC

Caroline Gerin Lajoie

Dr. Caroline Gérin-Lajoie is a psychiatrist and assistant professor at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Medicine, where she spent five years as director of the Faculty Wellness Program. For the past two decades, she has worked at The Ottawa Hospital in various leadership, teaching and clinical roles, including as the first medical director of physician health and wellness. In 2019, Dr. Gérin-Lajoie joined the Canadian Medical Association as the executive vice-president of physician wellness and medical culture. She continues to collaborate on program development and research in physician wellness and has presented on topics related to psychosocial oncology, physician health and disruptive behaviour at the provincial, national and international levels.

Daniela Isfan, MD, CFPC, ABFM

Daniela Isfan

Dr. Daniela Isfan is a family physician, a member of the CFPC’s Scientific Planning Committee for Physician Wellness and Resilience, a graduate of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program and a Certified Physician Development Coach from the Physician Coaching Institute. As a speaker, retreat facilitator and leader of Haven Compassion Rounds workshops, she provides guidance, education and support to help physicians restore balance in their lives, discover solutions for their well-being and build resilience in a supportive and safe group space.

Daniel McBain, MD

Dr. Daniel McBain is a former comprehensive rural physician with supplemental training in Psychotherapy and twelve years’ experience delivering mental health treatment virtually. He is a Certified Medical Psychotherapist and a Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. He is also qualified in Interpersonal Psychotherapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and has Master’s-level training in Clinical Supervision of Psychotherapy and Counselling. He lives in Kamloops, BC.

Sharman Robertson, MD, FRCPC

Sharman Robertson

Dr. Sharman Robertson is a psychiatrist who is interested in mitigating the effects of compassion fatigue and burnout. She has worked with the Canadian Medical Protective Association as a Physician Advisor since 2018. Dr. Robertson also has a background working with youth and families with first episode psychosis.
