Survived by his wife Mary, 2 children and 4 grandchildren. “After medical school, Dr. Stickles completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Michigan and a residency in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, and then a year-long teaching fellowship at the University of Michigan. In 1959 Lee returned to New Brunswick, where he would practise in Fredericton with compassion, wit, an astonishing work ethic, extraordinary professional skills and a contagious sense of humour for the next 54 years. In addition to his patients, he served the medical community through a variety of volunteer positions, including as director of the New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island Paediatric Society, as president of the York-Sunbury-Queens Medical Society, the Atlantic Provinces Paediatric Society, and the Fredericton Medical Clinic. Dr. Stickles received many honours and awards during his career, including the Order of Merit (1993) and the Dr. Garfield Moffatt Medal (1998) from the NBMS. He was also awarded the Distinguished Community Paediatrician Award by the Canadian Paediatric Society (2000), and a Special Achievement Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics (2004).”
