The CMA welcomes federal law on medical assistance in dying

In June 2016, the CMA was pleased that historic federal legislation on medical assistance in dying was passed by Parliament, which closely followed the recommendations developed in consultation with its membership.

The CMA will continue to study this new legislation — which represents the culmination of years of work — and its impact on physicians and their patients.

Support for physicians on medical assistance in dying

To support physicians with this new legislation, a new online learning module was launched as well as face-to-face courses on end-of-life care and medical assistance in dying.
