As COVID-19 has exposed troubling gaps in Canada’s healthcare system and left many people on the sidelines, the CMA has been busy developing an action plan and setting the course for bold changes in Canadian health care.

The 2021 CMA Health Summit Series is a virtual, interactive event exploring what is needed to rebuild health care for the future. The insights gained from participants will inform the CMA’s bold plan for improving health, health systems and the health workforce.

The second session in this series will be held on Thursday, June 17 from 6:00-8:30pm ET. It is titled Lessons learned from COVID-19: How do we close Canada’s health gap?

In this virtual session, keynote speaker Dr. Jane Philpott will discuss the extent to which COVID-19 has magnified health inequities for many people living in Canada and exacerbated challenges that existed before the pandemic. She will be joined by Dr. Naheed Dosani and patient advocate Nicole Nickerson for a panel discussion on how to learn from pandemic experiences and effectively recover with a commitment to health equity.
