This year’s CMA Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held virtually on Wed., Aug. 16, from 11 am to 4 pm ET.

Under the theme Driving impact, together, it’s an opportunity for members to shape the CMA’s work by participating in a Q&A with leadership, providing input on governance and addressing other corporate issues, including appointing the auditor.

In addition, outgoing president Dr. Alika Lafontaine will share reflections on his term and our incoming president, BC family physician Dr. Kathleen Ross, will set out her vision for the year ahead.

The AGM also includes the Nominations Committee report, where delegates can vote to ratify candidates for CMA leadership positions.

Who’s considered a delegate? Some delegates are appointed by virtue of their position (e.g., the chair and members of the CMA Board of Directors, the speaker and deputy speaker, the president of each division, and some past officers). Provincial/territorial and affiliate society delegates are members appointed by their respective provincial/territorial medical association or affiliate society to vote in CMA elections. See section 10.2.1 of the bylaws for a complete list.

The virtual meeting format will include live webcasting of all proceedings, secure online voting, a moderated question and answer period and simultaneous interpretation.

Meeting information, including the agenda, is available at cma.ca/agm, with our annual report and additional resources being added as they become available.

This year’s meeting will be the last to be held in August; in 2024, the AGM is scheduled for May 29.

Note: Physicians and medical learners must join the CMA or renew their membership before Thurs., Aug. 10 at 8 pm ET to participate in the AGM. Non-members, including members of the public, may register to observe the AGM. Registration will close at this date and time for both members and non-members.
