Together, Scotiabank, the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) and MD Financial Management (MD) will be contributing $200,000 to the Code Life Ventilator Challenge

This two-week international design competition, which launched in March, is a joint initiative between the Montreal General Hospital Foundation and the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre. Their goal is to create a simple, low-cost, easy-to-manufacture and easy-to-maintain ventilator to serve COVID-19 patients.

By their March 31 deadline, they received more than 2,600 challenge entries from engineers, scientists, programmers and medical technology experts in 90 countries.

This financial contribution will go toward prize money and key operational costs related to the challenge. It’s the latest in a series of contributions through the Scotiabank, CMA and MD 10-year agreement to support Canada’s medical profession.
