As a physician, you have a first-hand view of the issues facing your practice, your patients and your community. As a CMA member, you have invaluable perspectives on our association and how we can make it stronger. Member proposals are an important way to share your ideas for change with the CMA.
Make sure your voice is heard
Submit your member proposal today. You have two options:
- Policy proposals — to help set CMA policy and clarify our position on important health issues. Your proposal might be an amendment to an existing policy or a suggestion for a brand-new policy. Our advocacy work is based on our policy.
- Corporate proposals — to enhance CMA governance, operations and bylaws. These are addressed at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and must be submitted no later than 90 days before the AGM for proper consideration.
What do we look for?
On the policy front, we actively seek out proposals that align with our vision, our mission and the goals of CMA 2020. For corporate policy, we look for ideas that will help make the CMA more efficient, effective, transparent and inclusive.
How do I submit a proposal?
Your first step is to fill out the appropriate submission form. We’ll ask for information about your proposal, why you think it’s needed, what it will accomplish and how it aligns with our priorities. You’ll also need to list 10 other members who support your proposal.
If your proposal is accepted, it will be included in the CMA’s policy database. If at any point in the process your proposal is rejected, we’ll let you know.
